1. very/ much(非常)
This flower is very beautiful.
This book is much lighter than that one.
Thank you very much.
I very like English.(×)
2. too/ either(也)
You are a student. I am a student, too.
You aren't a teacher. I am not a teacher, either.
You are also a teacher.
She also wants to learn English.
3. ago/ before(以前)
My grandfather died three years ago.
I said my grandfather had died three years before.
a. ago是以现在为基准,指“距今若干时间以前”, ago不能单独使用,应用 three days/ weeks/ years... ago,并常和过去时连用。例如:
I met our teacher an hour ago.
He said he had finished the work two days before.(过去的某个时间之前)
He finished the work two days ago.
I have seen the film before.
I have seen the film ago.(×)
如果 before后接其他词,如: before dinner/ class,则此时的 before是介词,而不是副词。
